One of the most important historic days in our lifetime, the events of 9/11 have shaped who we are as a city, nation, and world. Come with us as we bring you into the story of the day, the tragic loss, the effort to move forward, and the resilience that has propelled the revitalization and rebirth.
Duration: 1.5 hours
Meeting Point: City Hall Park, by the fountain. The entrance to park is at the corner of Broadway and Park Row. The guide will be holding a blue flag.
Upon meeting your guide inside City Hall Park, you will be brought into the story of 9/11. With sensitive care, the events of the day are explored as you walk in the footsteps of the heroes, survivors, and victims of the day.
From the park, you will make your way to the memorial. Along the route, you will see Saint Paul’s Chapel, the site that served as a safe place on the day and the early part of the recovery process. Your guide will also bring you to the Oculus, the new World Trade Center site, and other historic places along the way.
You will then enter the official memorial. With your private group you will experience the entirely of the site. Your guide will share with you all the unique features and details to be found throughout the memorial, such as the pools that sit in the exact location where the towers once stood, the plaques, FDNY Memorial Wall, Liberty Park where the sculpture known as The Sphere resides, The Memorial Glades, and finally the Survivor Tree.
The memorial is filled with hidden symbolism that can only be known if shown by an expert guide. We will deepen your experience sharing these details you could easily miss on your own.
The story of this day and what came after is about and for all of us. Sharing it together is how we can come to understand, grieve, honor, and ultimately find peace in loss and survival.
